Today, in our “Fortuna’s Guest” column, we are delighted to introduce a remarkable woman whose wisdom and strength of spirit inspire those around her. Ulviyya Taghizade is the founder of AWA UK, a public figure, and the wife of Tahir Taghizade, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Hungary.
AWA UK serves as a platform that unites and supports Azerbaijani women living abroad. Ulviyya has successfully balanced her professional life, motherhood, and public engagement while remaining true to her values and inner voice.
Today, she shares her reflections on life, women’s wisdom, the importance of listening to one’s heart, and believing in the power of love.
— Dear Ulviyya, welcome to Fortuna!
Thank you very much! I am delighted to be here and to share my experiences.
— Could you tell us a little about yourself?
I was born in Baku in 1986 and studied at School No. 47. Later, I enrolled at Baku Slavic University, where I completed my master’s degree in International Relations, specializing in the Czech language.
My internship at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, my work in the Press and Information Department, changes in my personal life, and my experiences living in the Czech Republic, London, and Budapest have all shaped my journey and taught me to appreciate family, friendship, and inner harmony.
— You lead the Azerbaijan Women Association in the UK (AWA UK). What can you tell us about the organization?
AWA UK was established in 2017 to unite and support women living abroad and to provide them with a platform for self-expression and personal development.
We organize cultural events, exhibitions, charity initiatives, networking meetings, and friendly gatherings where women can share experiences and support one another.
For me, AWA UK is like a child—it is my pride and joy, a labor of love that continues to grow, inspire, and bring people together.
— Which events have been especially memorable for you?
Every event has its own unique significance. However, one that stands out was a charity auction held at the Lansdowne Club in London.
An Azerbaijani artist presented their works, while renowned athletes donated personal items for charitable causes. It was truly a special occasion where art, sports, and generosity came together in one place.
— What does wisdom mean to you?
Wisdom means listening to the voice of your heart.
The heart tells us when to act, when to compromise, and when to stand firm. It is an inner compass that guides us through life.
— How can people overcome difficulties?
Through faith and trust in life.
Sometimes circumstances are beyond our control. In such moments, the best approach is to keep moving forward and learn from every experience.
Betrayals and disappointments are also lessons that strengthen us and help us grow.
— Which moments of your life do you consider the happiest?
Happiness is not limited to joyful events.
True happiness lies in the ability to see light even in difficult times and to recognize challenges as opportunities for growth. Every experience is valuable if we choose to learn from it.
— What advice would you give to women facing difficult circumstances?
Do not be afraid to ask for help. Trust your heart, invest in your personal growth, and never lose your inner light.
The world is full of opportunities, and sincerity always finds a response.
— What is your formula for success?
To do good, to love sincerely, and to believe in people.
Love is a universal force that makes life meaningful, fulfilling, and rich in purpose.
— What do you wish for yourself?
I wish for my children to grow into honorable and compassionate individuals, for peace and harmony to prevail around us, and for every person to find light even during life’s most difficult moments.
— What message would you like to share with our readers?
Live with love and wisdom. Appreciate every moment and believe in the power of kindness.
May the light within your hearts illuminate your path and inspire those around you.
